Dram of the Month
August
2007
Ardbeg 1990
Airigh Nam Beist (arry nam bayst)
They call this one the ‘Beastie’
and for
good reason. A better title would be the
Peat Beastie since this one seems
destined for the Peat Freaks hall of
fame. This dram does offer much more
than just peat. It’s a great whisky that
all Islay fans will love. Gaelic for
‘shelter of the beast’ the dram is named
after an eerie location near the Ardbeg
Distillery and is a big impressive dram.
When you’re in the mood for big peat
this is a great choice.
Nose: Heavy smoky peat, nutty, lemon
zest
Body: Mouth coating, big and oily
Finish: Long dry and robust smoky peat,
some nice bite
A big impressive dram that we
highly recommend.
Cheers,
Glen
If you live in the New Jersey / New York
area, these two stores have a great
selection of Ardbeg.
